 A Night to Celebrate//Adri
« Thread Started on Mar 24, 2009, 5:53pm »

Chasing had spent the better part of two hours talking with friends and downloading pictures for Adri to look at while he drove to Atlanta. Then he'd gotten dressed in his dancing attire, simple dark blue shirt, classic dark washed jeans and black loafers. No sense in completely dressing up, Atlanta wasn't New York after all. As he drove through Burdet he stopped and picked up a flower or two, simple red roses, and then parked otuside of Adriana's place. Not one to honk the horn, he strode up the steps and knocked on her door.

"I don't have a white horse, but prince charming is here to rescue from boredom", he said. He couldn't believe he had asked another woman to marry him. Hopefully this one would work out better than the last one, no matter how much he wished the last one had worked out. He was going to do his best to forget Claire and move on with Adri. She was great, really she was, like a little piece of sunshine. And better yet her career wouldn't get in the way of a family with him and she wasn't so rigid and unbending as Claire was either.

the dress (click!)

Adriana had quickly jumped in to the shower to remove the barn smell from her skin and hair. Once she felt squeaky clean, she had dried her hair and put it in curlers. While she waited for her hair to curl she busied herself with painting her toenails and doing her makeup. Though she didn't need much, she put on eye shadow just to make her hazel eyes appear just a little bit more dazzling. She loved getting all dolled up, but she felt like she was fumbling around like an awkward idiot trying to get ready as though this was her first date with Chasing. She spent time calling her mother to tell her the news, who was of course ecstatic, already asking if children were in the near future. She simply told her to at least ask that question after the wedding and hung up when she realized she was down to an hour to finish getting ready.

Finishing her makeup, she slipped in to the classy black dress she kept at the back of her closet for special occasions. It wasn't over the top, just that classy 'little black dress' that fit her curves without being too revealing. With a pair of flashy high heels, the only piece of jewelry she chose to wore was the spectacular engagement ring. Letting her hair down from the curlers, the long locks of chestnut cascaded down past her shoulder blades in rich thick waves, framing her face. Just as she finished the final touches, she heard the doorbell ring. Grabbing her purse, she turned off most of the lights except for that in the living room and outdoor light and answered the door, laughing at his announcement. "Hello darling," She crooned happily, thanking him for the flowers and wrapping her arms around his neck to plant a soft kiss on his cheek.

She smelled of something wonderfully good, and whatever perfume she used, she always kept secret. It wasn't too strong, but it made you almost crave whatever it was. She stepped back a moment, admiring him and giving him a wink. "You look devilishly handsome," she commented, a sly smile spreading on her lips. Grabbing a light dress coat in case it got a little bit cooler out, she stepped outside with him and shut the door, locking it securely after she had put the roses in a vase inside so they wouldn't wilt in her absence. Looping her arm with his, she grinned. "Ready when you are."

"And you look deliciously beautiful now quit tempting me", he told her, giving her a quick kiss before leading her to his car. It wasn't a fancy car, a simple lexus, but it was a nice silver color. The type of car that costs a little bit of money but won't cause anyone to draw the wrong conclusion. He'd have taken a truck if he could but driving a truck through Atlanta was a pain in his rear so he had settled on the instead. He opened the door for her before walking around and getting into the driver seat. "Where we are going is not conducive to looking at horses, so you may look at the book now. You may ask any question you want but you are forbidden from asking about the price. Also I have ridden each of the five horses selected for you", he gave her a wink as he started the car, "If you do not like them I can get you another set tomorrow".

He handed her the book, before driving away. "First horse is an Akhal-Teke, German warmblood gelding named SklaveDuestchLiebe", he said in a good German accent. "His owner calls him Sklave. He's very well-trained but as little show experience because his rider is currently in college. The rider is also getting out of riding which is why he is for sale". That should answer any questions as to why such a horse was for sale, now he'd wait to see what kind of questions she had about the horse.

the dress (click!)

Adriana wasn't one to get in to truly fancy cars, as long as it ran decent and got her where she needed to be that was the perfect car for her. She settled down in to the passenger seat, automatically fastening her seatbelt and spreading her coat in her lap. The dim twilight streaked across the sky, the stars twinkling like crystal globes against the velvet dark blue skyline, the last hints of sunset disappearing along the distant mountains. "Yes sir." She said after his strict instructions, grinning as she looked at the first horse. Her eyes immediately noticed the golden coat and cream mane and tail, and for that she loved the horse already. When Chasing pronounced his show name, she wrinkled her nose and laughed. "I think we would have to change it to something a bit easier to pronounce for the judges' sake." She remarked jokingly, taking in every detail of the horse.

The fact that Chasing had already ridden each one made her feel better, she trusted his judgment that much more. She pondered a moment, and once her list of questions were prepared, she spewed them off one by one. "How old is he? How tall is he? Has he had any major health problems in the past? Particularly soundness?" She began with those and stopped, realizing she was sounding very veterinarian-like at that moment, but those were quite valid questions. She shot a smile in his direction, before her hazel eyes lifted to stare out at the road ahead of them, illuminated by the pale yellow lights of the vehicle. "Let's see the next one you picked out.."

Chasing chuckled at her quick fire questions but dutifully answered them as he drove. "He's nine, fifteen hands tall. Not that I know of and he's sound. He's got a few spunk issues that maturity and time will work out of him though", he did add. It was nothing too deal-damaging, a tendency to get frisky and excited about certain things. Constant work and some steady hands would deal with that. "Turn the page then dear".

Chasing glanced over at the picture and nodded, "That's Mysterious Lady Dahlia or Lady", he named the horse. He actually smiled rather fondly over the mare. "I bred her to Cali a few years back. The foal is with a friend of mine out in Los Angeles. She's an Eygptian Arab, imported about six years back for my friend's daughter. She's pregnant though so he is selling the mare". Lady was certainly a looker and she'd won several ribbons in a variety of show rings. "She's done some very light eventing with dressage being her strongest suit. But she's shown both Halter and undersaddle and done very well". She had been ranked once but Chasing didn't think Adri needed to hear that. "She's twelve, fifteen two and sound", he anticipated her next set of questions since she had already asked them about the first horse.
